It does not need to be filled, so it is always ready to use. The fact that the electrolyte is a polymer considerably reduces contamination of the electrode to ensure reliable measurements every day.
– “Open” and ceramic junctions: the “open” junction totally exposes the reference electrolyte to the exterior. This is possible only because the electrolyte is solid (polymer). The advantage of this type of junction lies in the fact that it is less subject to clogging, thus reducing measurement errors linked to such phenomena.
